Writing set gold dip pen nib Emblems
On the occasion of the Carrousel of 1662, Louis XIV chose the sun as emblem.
The sun is Apollo, god of peace and art; it is also the star that gives life to all things, which is even regularity, which rises and sets. Like the god, Louis XIV, warrior hero, brings peace; he protects the arts, he is the dispenser of all graces. By the regularity of his work, by his public rises and sunsets, he marks the likeness, printed in stone.
Everywhere the decor of Versailles mixes the representations and attributes of the god (laurels, lyre, tripod) with portraits and royal emblems.
Contains an antique dip pen nib and a black ink bottle of 10 ml (0,34 fl. oz).
